Microsoft is not considering how all users are using this feature. This is a feature that should be enabled at all times for anyone who has purchased Office (any version). I know many people who even with a pen supported device use the mouse when doing quick markups. I did this for the past three years exclusively and part time for the three years before that. Without it, I will not be able to grade papers this semester so I really need to be able to know how to be able to turn this feature on so I can use it. There has to be a work around to be able to turn it on so one can use the mouse to do markups. All the link that you attached shows is that even with additional pen and touch pads attached to the computer, it does not allow for the use of the ink tools so that would not help me to buy those additional items. Please help as grading will start in five days!

I am also experiencing the same problem. When I was using Microsoft Office 2013 the inking worked great. However, since I installed Office 2016 it does not show up nor has any of the fixes suggested in the forum work. Why does the bamboo tablet not work in this version of word??
I have spent far too long trying to work this out when it should have automatically worked, otherwise if this is going to happen every time I purchase and install a new version of Office then I simply won't do it.
A very frustrated Microsoft user!

What happens if you add the Pens commands from the Draw tab group to the Quick Access Toolbar? Can you then use your pen.

Hi Doug
I did manage to get a new tab created by going into my control panel and the administrative - services area and recreated it. However, I did go into the draw tab as you suggested and I could access my pen tool from there, but wonder why it was not accessible under the review tab as it was in the previous version of Office?? Why does this happen when you install a new version?

Thanks, though it would be nice if Office automatically recognized when the bamboo tablet was attached.
On another note, Microsoft also needs to do something about their online key activation, as each year when I purchase a new license I have to spend far too long trying to get it to activate because it continually says that my key isn't valid and so I end up spending more time trying to get in touch with tech support. I would really love it if I could enter the key and it would work as expected.

Hi Danilo,
The Ink Editor feature for Word 2016 is only available for Office 365 subscribers. You may refer to this link for more information. However, for PowerPoint 2016 there’s a way for you to use the Ink Editor. To use this feature on PowerPoint 2016, click the Review tab and select Start Inking.
